For Yolanda Pong (b.1973) painting is very simple and direct, sometimes taking her back to the innocence of childhood. Pong chooses to return to the most primitive state of painting, using dots, lines, surfaces, abstract symbols and shapes, to construct a space with depth. In the process of creating, Pong’s personal feelings and memories are recorded, using emotion as her narrative technique.
