One of the leading artists of the Chinese Gaudy Art movement, Liu Liguo (b 1964) began his career as a sculptor producing works with striking colour and with playful political metaphors, before transitioning to painting in 2000. Striking colours remain his signature, animals a device used to explore the relationship between man and nature.
