Di West was born in Auckland, New Zealand and has lived most of her life in Brisbane, Australia. She is fascinated with line and form but most essentially by balance and counter-balance. In her paintings, she is a devotee of oil on canvas and takes great inspiration from the works of Soutine, Modigliani and the Australian Artist, Charles Blackman.
