ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seo Bu Ok refers to his paintings as a kind of “floating spectrum,” meaning that color appears to float while suspended in a spatial field, the way one might imagine colors in a sky borne of cumulous clouds after a rainfall. Their mood is one of exaltation filled with optical motion. This alludes to the formal principle that spatial fields in painting are never still.
