ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inspired by fireworks he observed over the Bay of Oita, Hiroki Matsuda (b. 1969, Oita) creates works that exemplify the movement of light against forms. He uses bamboo strips to create frenetic energy, while demonstrating a unique delicacy and flexibility in his work. He is a Technical Skill Instructor in the Department of Bamboo Arts at the Oita Prefectural Technical Institute.
