ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shim Hong Jae (b.1963) works in a variety of mediums including painting, installation and performance art, refusing to allow media to limit his thoughts or self-expression. Inspired by social issues, his recent works are mixed media incorporating mother-of-pearl which he repurposes from old cabinetry, wood engravings, and by casting thick layers of Korean paper.
