ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seesok Ryu paints the flowers Chinese trumpet creepers which were considered precious, they bloom in royal palaces in ancient times. In the Chosun dynasty, they were also called the “flower of a royal secret inspector”, stuck into a crown given to the person who wins first place in the higher civil service examination. The flower represents “honor” or “glory”, and it conveys “good vigor”.
