Kohei Nawa Japan Kohei Nawa’s (b.1975) “PixCell” are works are made by covering the surface of an object with transparent spheres, transforming each into a “husk of light”, encapsulated in a layer of cells as it was first viewed on a computer screen as a group of pixels. The object’s surface is fragmented with countless cells which produces a distorting lens effect occurring over all cell units. The result is a visual experience of repetitive gaze into various details simultaneously. |
