To Chen Gui Tong, the influences of ancestors and traditional culture on himself and other young Chinese people shape both character and artistic viewpoint. Work “The Portrait of My Father” Chen expresses an inner connection in his spirit between himself and his father. In the same manner, Chinese traditional culture is inherited and infused into the contemporary culture that shapes China today.
