Chang Hyunkyung South Korea Painter Chang Hyunkyung has developed a special vocabulary of brightly colored frontal rows of houses in order to illustrate her recollections. Rather than focusing on predictable indoor family scenes or on figurative reminiscences, the artist has invented a series of village narratives, a pictorial story-telling device in which polychrome houses are lined up on a horizon in relative intimacy often with a brilliant spatial sky that hovers overhead. |
